Cup - Quarter finals
Ash Rovers 3 Cary Youth 7
Only 2 minutes in a lovely ball through from Will found Harry who out paced the defenders
0-1. Ash Rovers who towered above us in all departments, made a strong recovery on 10 minutes, nothing Jamie could do 1-1. This rocked our confidence and within 2 more minutes Ash went 2-1 ahead with a well placed shot in the roof of the net. Our team were now in disarray, sloppy passing, no tackling and when we did go forward mike was offside, to eager to score. Twenty five minutes in Ash had a penalty, but to my amazement there striker put it wide. It was not until we scored on 30 minutes did we start to control the game. A great shot from Jack rebounded to Harry 2-2. Right on on half time we scored again, a surperb pass to Mike who cooly slotted the ball home. Half time 2-3.
The honesty of the team when not performing well is admired by myself. We looked better in the second half although not convincing. Jack was next to score, yet more good work from Harry who played outstandingly, 2-4. Then this Jekyll and Hyde team pulled back to 3-4, thanks to a moment of madness from Jamie who misjudged a long ball and it bounced over his head. Entertaining it might be for the neutral, headache time for me. After more missed chances a lovely cross from Harry found Matt at the far post 3-5. Now it was time for Kieran to score, a run straight down the middle tucking the ball home 3-6. Right on the final whistle Kern, yes Kern, found the net after a scuffle in the goal mouth 3-7.
Well done boys, bring on Chard in the semi's.

Sunday 30 March - Cup
Cary 3 Yetminster 0
The boys were up for this one having lost 5-1 last time. We started well playing up hill first, with the defence and midfield performing at their best, and great discision making from Jamie our keeper, Yetminster never got a look in. On 16 minutes Harry picked up a loose ball on the edge of their box, swivelled around and hit a spectacular shot to the top corner 1-0. The boys now grew in confidence and only through hard work, playing as a team we went 2-0 up at half time after a great ball from Will found Mike who skipped pass two defenders to slot the ball home.
Moving players around, putting Dan in midfield, Matt P up front with Mike we created more and more chances, but failed to take any. Yetminster started to put us under pressure and were unlucky not to score. Will, Kieran, Jack and Angus started to get back control in our defence. Matt E, Harry, J and Dan played outstandingly in midfield creating more chances to score. With 15 minutes left another amazing run from Mike, beating there defenders, taking it around the keeper, striking the ball goal wards (with his left foot) only to see Matt P touch it over the line. 3-0 Now it was time to bring on Lewis, Sam and Kern who waited with great patience to play. This was the most pleasing game to watch and to manage because the team got what they deserve. All parents should be pleased with their performance.

Sunday 9 March Somerton 6 Cary Youth 4
A surperb match too watch from any supporter, played in a great manner from both sides.
Yet again we were dwarfed in size by six opponnets being 1ft taller than us. Somerton kicking with the wind behind them gave us trouble from the kick-off. We managed too hold for 15 minutes when Somerton struck their first 1-0. Straight from the kick-off Will and Harry combined to split their defence, Harry sliding the ball home nicely 1-1. Within the next 10 minutes we conceded three more 4-1, our defence and midfield afraid to tackle the bigger boys. Just before half time we conceded one more 5-1, but credit to the boys they never gave up or dropped their heads. It took us 10 minutes to get going in the second half, but then a great ball through from Will found Matt P to make it 5-2. A clever run from Will made it 5-3 and now we dominated. Somerton couldn't get into our half and the few occasions they did Angus, Dan and Lewis cleared with ease. Slick passing and movement from Joey, Will, Harry, Phil, Jack and Matt it wasn't long before Will smashed the ball in from 6yds to make it 5-4. We created chance after chance but couldn't find the net, and sure enough a long ball played through our defence, a missed clearance found Somerton striker who hit a wonderful shot
6-4. A brillant performance from all. Hope to see Mike back next week we missed him today. A credit to Phil and Joey who both played brillantly, thanks to you both.

Cary Youth 10 Ilminster 2
Goals! Goals! Goals!
What can I say about this game. We got off to a cracking start with a great through ball to Matt E who spun round and hit the ball into the net after 3 minutes. We have never started so well, but on 10 minutes Ilminster levelled through dreadful defending from a corner 1-1.
Not to worry, playing the ball around the pitch on the ground, three minutes later we went 2-1 up thanks to Mike's finishing. Next to score was Lewis from another great corner from Matt E. Twenty nine minutes had passed when another surperb run from Mike made it 4-1. Ilminster kept coming at us and from a corner the ball was cleared, but a wonderful strike made it 5-2 at half -time. One minute in we made it 6-2 with a strike from Harry. Ilminster kept trying but all over the pitch we were stronger and played with commitment and passion and it wasn't long before Sam scored his first goal in two seasons, finishing with his right foot? 7-2. Another goal from Matt E, and two more from Mike rounded off a brilliant performance. I hope you are all pleased with the teams performance today, you thoughly deserved this win. Well done. Man of the match Jack + 11 others

Cary Youth 0 Ilchester 8
With only a couple minutes of play gone Ilchester scored there first and by ten minutes we were 0-3 down. To my players credit slowly and surely we got our game together, with Jamie in great form, Angus having his best game so far this season and Mike reverting to left midfield done his job with great attitude and commitment. Ilchester are an excellent side playing neat football.Half time 0-3
Again letting in a soft goal at the start we woke up and battled hard playing some nice football. Although Ilchester went on too score eight i was very pleased with our attitude throughout this game.
Well done lads!
Man of Match was split between Angus and Mike

Ilminster 3 Cary Youth 5
Line up:- Mortley, Wilton, Davis, Agbo, Barber, Pullman, Garman, Foot, Berryman, Ableson, Edmonds
Sub:- Barnes
Noiser than ever this week, and extremely cold. With only 5 minutes gone a fantastic save from Ricky Hatton lookalike Mortley to deny Ilminster an early lead. Just too calm our nerves the boys settled and started to play football. A brillantly taken goal from Ableson saw us go one up. Ilminster battled well, but on 20 minutes another strike from Ableson into the top corner made it number two. We were now cruising, the defence playing brillantly, midfield passing and moving well. Ilminster held out for another 10 minutes before (poacher) Garman sped through to make it 0-3. Ilminster still kept coming and one minute before half time we went too sleep and were punished 1-3. Before we knew where we were Ilminster got a goal back 2-3. We didn't organise enough, not tackling, bad marking etc, but just like us, another well taken goal and run from Garman made it 2-4. I am now on a rollercoaster with Ilminster producing another goal 3-4 with 20 minutes to go. Strict instructions were relaid, and the boys responded well. After three missed chances and much more creation in front of the goal (hat-trick) Garman sealed the game up with two minutes remaining.
Great to watch for the neutral, but more tablets please! Looking forward to the rest, but we love you all really.
Training starts January 4
Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

11 th November 2007 Ash 0 Cary 7
Before the game started I knew we were up for this, laughter and great banter in the changing room . Ash are bottom but you still have to perform as a team; and what a performance this turned out to be.Starting brightly I was incensed when on 16 mins Jordan's surperb strike from 20 yards was disallowed by there linesman [moan over]. Linking play together nicely the ball was fed through to the right hand, where up popped Matt P with a wonder strike 1-0 . NOW we were in top gear, on 27mins Will beating 2 players cracked a screamer in off the post 2-0. Mike poached two in 4 minutes to take us to half-time 4-0 . Passing, movement and total committment by all 14 players, Ash never had a chance, and on 45 mins Jordan's spectular finish made it 5-0, a just reward for his best performance yet. More great passing and unselfish wing play from Harry saw him cross the ball in for Lewis to finish off 6-0. Just too complete a perfect day Matt E made it 7-0. MANY THANKS to all 14, a surperb game. THANKS TO ALL THE PARENTS WHO SUPPORT ME AND THE BOYS.

Gillingham 0 Cary Youth 4 14 October
With only 11 avaiable players, our goal keeper missing, I didn't know what to expect.
Three easy chances went begging in the first five minutes, I didn't think this was going to be our day, but all credit to all the players we kept are discipline, played as a team, and with no help from the referee ( a centre circle king) the scored remained 0-0 at half time.
Kicking up the slope second half, with more determination, Kieran, after a lovely run scored 0-1. We now seemed more relaxed in our play. With Will & Dan, Lewis & Angus playing superbly in the defence, Matt was never troubled in goal. Many thanks to Matt for standing in at short notice. Kieran in his best game yet played a one two with Mike with a excellent finish made it 0-2. Excellent work throughout the game from Matt P, Jack & Harry showing his trickery it wasn't long before Mike made it three, after an exceptional pass from Will, Mike still had alot to do, and at last found the net. Their goalkeeper kept the score down with some brillant saves, but could do nothing about Wills penatly after Harry was brought down in the box.
I hope this is a turning point in the season. I'm sure all your parents were pleased with everyones performance.
Many thanks

9 September 2007 Castle Cary 4 Ash Rovers 1 by Steve Wilton
On a hot summers day we made sure the boys had plenty to drink.
With no friendlies pre-season, I didn't know what to expect.
Ash Rovers with three men mountain of boys, Cary boys were dwarfed in size. A scrappy first ten minutes from Cary, Ash looked the better side. A delft pass from Will into the box found predator Mike G who slotted the ball home cooly, Cary started to settle. An excellent first half performance from Kern, Harry and Kieran took us in to top gear, and it wasn't long before the second goal arrived from Mike G. Good work from Harry found Mike G in the box who took the ball off Jordan's foot to score his hat trick.
Half time Cary 3 Ash 0
Positional changes were made and Cary struggled to find their usual passing game. Ash finally scored after a mix up in defence. Matt P & Will deserve a mention for their hard work through out the game. Right on cue Mike G scored his & Cary's fourth. Quite rightly Mike G deserves praise but so do all the boys for a good team performance. Well done
Man of Match Mike G.
24 September 2007 Chard Town 5 Cary Youth 1
Line up :- Jamie,Lewis, Will, Kieran, Dan, Matt E, Jordan, Mike, Harry, Kern, Angus
Subs Jack & Matt P
Pouring with rain and a mix up of pitches didn't help. Chard kicking down the slope started well. Impressive defending, good handling from Jamie and great leadership from Will, I thought we had done enough to get through the first half, but with 3 minutes left of half time Chard took a corner and scored. Half time 1-0.
Chard are an excellent footballing side, so I wasn't too dissappointed with us kicking down the slope in the second-half. I expected us to go at them, but I am not sure what happened. Some players went missing, wrong attitude, only great defending from Dan and Lewis kept the score down to five. Matt Edmonds scored a goal after 10 minutes but Chard played controlled football and desserved to win. All 13 players gave what they could but perhaps some should look over their shoulders. More work at training might help.
Many thanks to all the parents who supported their boys. Training will START at 6pm from Friday.
Fairly pleased, Steve
7 October Ilchester Youth 8 Cary Youth 0 7 October
I expected this to be a tough game, but I hoped the boys would do there best. Only 12 players and a bad attitude throughout our side, it really showed and Ilchester made us pay.
Five goals in the first 20 minutes and we didn't look in it. No more goals before half time. A stern talking too and a better attitude in the second half we seen what we know we have in the side. A bit more belief and commitment we will do better. For 20 minutes in the second half we were solid, playing nice football and maybe we could of scored, but Ilchester netted three more as we ran out of steam. We had a good talk and I hope all of us will pull together and kick start our season next week.
Man of Match Kieran
